The 3010-201 series RS232 auto-switch
provides an easy method of sharing
one printer between two computers.
It is fully transparent, meaning that
the user will usually not even be
aware that it is in place.
It requires no special software, and
no manual switching.
It features "first come, first serve"
switching and timeout controlled by
DTR or TXD. The switch continuously
polls each input port until it detects
activity on a port, at which time the
switch "locks on" to that port and
maintains an open channel until all
printing activity is done, and the
timeout period has expired. At that
time it resumes polling input ports.
The input connectors on the switch are DB25F (DCE type).
The output connector on the switch is DB25M (DTE type).
