DataPro's blank industrial wall plates are the perfect canvas for creating your own in-wall terminals for
consoles, workstations, heavy machine hookups, marine jacks, and anything else!
You can have these plates custom-cut to your
specifications, using any variety of connectors you choose.
The 74000 series faceplates are designed to attach directly to a standard 4-inch
square electrical box, which can be purchased at most hardware stores. These faceplates
differ from our standard gang faceplates in the following ways:
The dimensions of the 74000 are 4-inches by 4-inches by 1/10 inch thick
These plates are totally flat and do not have beveled edges.
They have 4-holes or slots, one in each corner for quick and secure mounting.
They are thicker and stronger than our other plastic face plate products.
They are offered in two colors: gray (74000G) and blue (74000B).
They are ideal for mounting directly over an opening in a wall, when no electrical box is present.
They can accommodate more cutouts than a standard 1-gang faceplate.
Their rugged design and broad usable mounting area make these plates an ideal
solution for industrial wire termination and cable extension management.
MOUNTING INFORMATION
The 74000 series blank wall plates are designed to mount to any
standard US 4" x 4" electrical box, which are available at most
hardware stores. These boxes typically mount on the outside of a
wall or surface, as opposed to the 'in-the-wall'-type switch boxes.
However, they are available in both versions.
A standard-sized 4" x 4" electrical box is commonly found in three depths: 1.25", 1.50", and 2.125". We recommend
the 2.125 inch box for using panel-mount cables or couplers, as rear clearance can be a concern.
If you require additional clearance, there are also 1.50" 'square extension pieces
available that allow for an extra inch and a half of clearance behind the plate.
The 4x4 electrical boxes are equipped with several holes of varying sizes (0.5", 0.75", etc.)
on the sides and rear for running various types of EMT conduit directly into the box. Please see
the illustration below for an example of one of our 74000-series plates in action:
If an electrical box is impractical for your application, you can always mount the plate directly to a surface panel
with sheet metal (self-tapping) screws (not included). These plates are very sturdy and quite suitable for
flush-mounting when needed—just be sure that you hand-tighten the screws with a screwdriver to avoid damaging your
plates. We do not recommend the use of an electrical driver for final tightening.

using wall plates in your applications, see our
Guide to Face Plates.
