The DataPro 9991 crimp tool is for
RJ45 and RJ11 type connectors, and is the
simplest and most common method for terminating
network and phone plugs. It's designed
for any center-mounting RJ-style connector,
including the oft-misnomered RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45
style connectors.
RJ11 and RJ12 are typically used for telephone
and low-bandwidth data networks, while RJ45 is
ubiquitous for ethernet and data-over-ethernet
transfers. All of these connection types are best
suited with Category wire—typically CAT3 or
CAT5 for telephone systems and CAT5e or CAT6 for
ethernet.
This crimp tool also can cut and strip cable for
use in these connectors, so you won't need to pack
around additional knives, trimmers, and strippers.
