The DataPro 1394CC is a male-to-male FireWire 800 cable, designed for connecting two devices that take advantage of this high-bandwidth interface. This cable is most commonly used to download data from a digital video camera to an editing machine, or to attach an external hard drive to a host computer.
FireWire 800 runs at double the bandwidth of its predecessor, the powerful IEEE-1394 FireWire (or i.Link) interface. This next generation of FireWire uses a 9-pin box connector for data transfer, but is backwards compatible with older FireWire types. No conversion is needed, just a FireWire 9-pin to 6-pin cable or a FireWire 9-pin to 4-pin cable.
