The USB 2.0 4-port sharing hub allows
up to four computers to share access to a
single USB device, such as a hard drive,
scanner, camera, or printer.
Due to the nature of the USB signal timings
and drivers, it is not possible to use a passive
splitter cable to share a USB device between
hosts. This sharing hub uses electronic
switching to redirect the device to one specified
host computer at a time, simulating the
physical transportation of the device from
one computer to another.
A separate, normal USB hub could also
be shared, allowing this sharing
hub to share multiple devices.
The hub is controlled by using a hotkey on the
computers it is connected to. Pressing scroll
lock twice on a connected computer will grab
control of the device for that computer.
The hub also includes a reset button.
The hub provides four upstream ports
and one downstream port to the user.
The hub offers USB 2.0 speeds on all ports and
is bus powered; no external power supply is necessary.
