This stereo extension cable is designed to extend the run of an existing audio cable that uses the ubiquitous 3.5mm (1/8") stereo connector. This cable has a male stereo plug on one end, and a female stereo jack on the other.

This connector is extremely common in computer and portable audio systems, including headphones, MP3 players, sound cards, and flatscreen displays. It carries dual-channel audio over standard audio-grade wire, and is simple and robust enough to endure long runs with minimal noise or degradation.
