IEEE-1394 FireWire Type AB 6x4

The DataPro 1394AB series cable is a FireWire cable (IEEE-1394) with one six-pin plug and one four-pin plug. This is the most standard host-to-device configuration, as most computers and video hardware processors used the 6-pin connector and most camcorders and electronics used the smaller 4-pin connector.

Originally known just as "FireWire", now these cables are called "FireWire 400" to distinguish them from the newer, faster interface. Modern machines are more likely to utilize FireWire 800 on the host end, but that interface is backwards-compatible with legacy (FW 400) equipment.

FireWire cables provide high-speed data transmission for digital audio and video applications, most commonly for transferring data to and from camcorders and hard drives.

The bus allows up to 63 devices to be daisy-chained through a common interface.
