The DataPro 1129 series Keyboard Extension
cable for the IBM-PC is a high-quality
imported molded cable for ancient keyboards
and other legacy DIN components.
There was a time when this type of cable was
the standard for keyboard interfaces, back
when computers were beige and floppy disks
were 5 1/2". The 5-pin DIN keyboard was long
ago replaced by the PS/2 standard, though,
which itself has been replaced by USB. The
cold, ruthless hand of time destroys all,
but here at DataPro we don't believe in time
so we still carry this product.
If you have a legacy computer you need to keep
running, or a workshop full of old machines
you build for fun, or are a time-traveller in need
of repairs, this is the cable for you.
We also build this cable in any length
you require. With modern computer equipment,
there should be no signal loss out to 20 Feet
or so, and we have built this cable to as long
as 50 feet with no signal loss. However, this
does vary widely depending on the quality of
your equipment.
The connections are 5 pin din,
male to female, wired straight-through.
