The 1595 series is a USB 2.0 compliant cable, Type A to Mini-B.
The type-A connector is a flat rectangle that plugs into downstream
ports on host devices, and is found on most every computer today.
The mini type 'B' connector is small and square-ish but with bevelled
corners, like a desert plateau or a top hat that's been sat on. It plugs
into upstream sockets on small devices, like most cell phones, e-readers,
digital cameras, and small portable hard drives.
Since 2010, portable consumer electronics have begun switching from this
Mini-B USB connector to an even smaller style called
USB Micro-B, which is slightly beveled but much, much smaller.
This is becoming a popular connector for Android smartphones, and the
current generation of Amazon Kindle readers also use Micro-B instead of the
Mini-B found on the first two generations.
Special Note regarding this USB cable: This cable is NOT the correct
cable for a few Sony Digital cameras that use a
proprietary 4-pin USB connector that looks very similar in size to the
standard mini-B connector, however the Sony connector is not the same.
