This USB-to-RS232 Serial converter cable, formerly part number US-109A,
will allow any USB-equipped Windows computer to converse with an RS232 device, such as a modem,
PDA, GPS device, or RS232 serial printer. Not many vendors still carry and support RS232 devices,
but here at DataPro we know that old technology never really dies.
This serial converter is most popular with marine installers and technicians, who often have to deal
with GPS and radar units that still depend on the RS232 serial interface. On ships big and small,
DataPro's USB-to-Serial converters have provided this essential connection, as well as in military applications
and industrial installations.
This device works through port emulation: when attached to the USB port on a computer, the software drivers
create an emulated RS232 port on the computer which will transparently pass data from the serial device to
the awaiting software.
